For my Learning Outcomes Blog Post, I would like to touch on a few things that I have learned this semester through PRT 5460: Electronic Marketing. It has been a great class that has taught me numerous skills that I will use in the future.
1. To begin, there are numerous electronic marketing tools that we have learned. All of these skills are vital to have in the travel and hospitality industry. For example, programs like Adobe Photoshop and Flash allow the user to create, edit, and modify existing images. These tools can be a great way for businesses to display what they have to offer. Using a pretty picture or an animated movie can be a great way to attract a customer’s attention.
2. Usability, readability, searchability, and accessibility are all important aspects when it comes to website. In the travel and hospitality industry, it is important to maximize the way your website functions and is viewed. Things like domain name, website text and design, and image placement all have an effect on the success of your site. These aspects are often overlooked, but are very important.
3. Social media is starting to become a big part of the industry. We are starting to see many trends where companies are using social media to create more business and reach their target market.
4. Since social media is becoming an everyday part of some people’s lives, we often see how businesses are taking advantage of sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Companies are putting their name out their by reaching the people that are engulfed in these various sites. By developing a customer relationship through the web, these businesses are creating talk around the town, and this often spreads quickly through word of mouth.
